How Much Walking Does Your Large Pup Really Need?

Think your Great Dane needs miles of walking daily? Think again. Large dogs actually require less exercise than smaller, high-energy breeds, but the walking they do get should be intentional and low-impact. Heavy exercise on young, growing joints can cause problems down the road, so quality beats quantity for your big buddy. The sweet spot for most large breeds is 30-60 minutes of moderate activity daily. Focus on steady-paced walks rather than sprinting, and save the intense play for cooler parts of the day—especially crucial here in South Florida, where our heat and humidity demand we keep our gentle giants comfortable and protected.
